The Break-up breaks box office expectations
Movie industry execs, especially those at Universal, were somewhat nervous about how well The Break-up would do at the box office. What with the whole Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston/Vince Vaughn fiasco going on for months on end, people were worried that they would see similar effects like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has on Mission: Impossible 3.
Experts last week were saying that in a best-case scenario, The Break-up would earn around a low-$30million figure. Now that weekend estimates are in and show a healthy near-$40million take, the filthy rich Hollywood-aires can sleep easy tonight.
